Polyalkylimide gel safe and effective for treatment of facial lipoatrophy
A small, open-label study has found that injections of polyalkylimide gel (Bio-Alcamid) safely and effectively reduced the visible symptoms of facial lipoatrophy in HIV-positive patients, and improved self-reported anxiety, depression and overall quality of life. The study, performed at a clinic in Toronto, was reported in the May 31st edition of AIDS.
