Dr. Mona Loutfy, Director
Dr. Mona Loutfy received a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry
from the University of Western Ontario in 1991 then went on to
Medical School at the University of Toronto until 1995. She
completed her Internal Medicine residency at the University of
Toronto in 1999 and her Infectious Diseases Fellowship in 2001,
also at the University Toronto. Dr. Loutfy then completed her
Master's of Public Health at the Harvard School of Public Health in 2002.
She has completed a CIHR (Canadian Institutes of Health Research)
postdoctoral research fellowship at McGill University in Montreal,
Quebec in June 2004.
As of July 1st, 2004, Dr. Loutfy has started as an
Assistant Professor at the University of Toronto concentrating
on clinical HIV research. Her clinical HIV research focuses on
unique HIV treatment strategies. Dr. Loutfy is the Research
Director of the research component of the Maple Leaf Medical Clinic, which is called the Canadian Immunodeficiency

Dr. Colin Kovacs, Director
Dr. Colin M. Kovacs received his medical degree from the
University of Manitoba in 1983. His postgraduate training at
the University of Toronto included specialty training in
Psychiatry and Internal Medicine. He completed the Fellowship
Program in Emergency Medicine at the University of British Columbia in 1989,
with sub-specialty training in Traumatology and Toxicology in
New York City. He has held an ongoing academic position with the
University of Toronto since 1989 with the Department of
Internal Medicine, both in the Division of Emergency Medicine
and more recently in the Division of Infectious Disease. He
continues to hold active membership in the Royal College of
Physicians and Surgeons since 1989.
Colin has been in active full time HIV/AIDS clinical care
commencing in 1994. He has been engaged in clinical and investigator
driven research since the mid-1990's with collaborations throughout
Canada and abroad including such agencies as the National Institutes of Health,
Johns Hopkins University, and the University of Utretch. Toronto, ON
